Lab Safety

UC Merced is committed to ensuring a safe and healthy work environment. Providing safety training is a major component of this goal.

 

The Office of Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) offers training to UC Merced faculty and staff members and students on a variety of safety topics.

 

It is the responsibility of all supervisors, managers and principal investigators to identify job-specific hazards, to provide job-specific safety training and to require employees under their authority to participate in mandatory EH&S lead training.

All laboratory workers must complete Lab Safety Fundamentals before entering a lab.

Note that based on the requirements of your research/teaching labs, there may be additional training that you will need to complete. You will need to talk with your advisors about those additional trainings.
